BILS Objectives on Women Workers Issues

- To reduce the discrimination and violation of rights against women in the work place and in the society
- To increase the participation of women in the Trade Unions.
- To contribute in empowerment of women workers
- To integrate women in the mainstream of the Trade Union movement and leadership.
- To ensure social justice and dignity for women workers.

Development Objectives of the Project:

The Project will contribute to increase the participation and Empowerment of women in the T U.
The project will contribute to reduce discriminations and violations against women in work place
and in society.
The project will contribute to develop awareness and recognition among the society about the
women workers rights and role of women worker in development.

Immediate Objectives:

1) The capacity of the National Centres to organise, conduct, administer, evaluate and monitor the education programme will be further developed.
2) 20 Trained women trainers will be developed who will be capable to design, organise and conduct the training’s, workshops for national centres and BILS and have the ability to produce the material for that.
3) The capacity and aptitude of the National Centres to organise women both in formal and informal sectors will be further developed. Enable them to organise women through trained activists by using Discussion Circle and Campaigns.
4) A pool of capable mid level women leaders will be developed. Able to participate in National Centres activities actively and encourage others to do.
5) The participation’s of women in the trade union activity will be increased.
6) Information about working women rights, working condition and status will disseminate to the rank
and file workers and also in society through round table and studies.
7) The capacity of the National Centres and trained activist to organise and mobilise campaign
specially on women issue will be more developed .
8) The capacity of the NTUC's to co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate the activities will be developed.
9) Effective networking among women activists will be established and start functioning.

- Trained a team consisted of 24 midlevel women leaders
- Trained a Production team consisted of 16 midlevel women leaders
- Trained 389 basic T.U leaders on four different issues
- Aware 3824 rank & file women workers on different issues
