BILS-OSHE

BILS conducted Discussion Circle Meetings in two phases among four selected sectors are Electricity, Match, Construction, and Rice Mills. First phase was held from May to July 2006. Separate four meetings were held with four sectors. Among the 4 sectors total of 394 (male 336 and female 58) attended in the discussion circle meeting. 110 participants (all are male) were from Electricity sector, 83 participants from (male 66 and female 17) Match factory, 99 (male 93 and female 6) in construction sector and Rice Mills sectors participants were 102 (male 67 and female 35).

At the second phase, total of 355 participants attended in the discussion circle meeting (participants were different from the first phase) is given below in the table 5.2

4 meetings were held with 4 safety group members. Four sectors have four safety groups and each group comprises of 10 members. 80 study circles have been completed over the year and had to undergo 4 meetings.

Several meeting was held with the aim to meet different purposes like visiting the selected areas and meeting with the NTUCs, Civil society, union leaders, employers and local people to collect basic information in connection with OHS situation in different sectors. Two Meetings was organized to exchange views with the social leaders and trade union leaders (20 Participants in each Meeting) and discussed how to cooperate each other to improve OHS situation at workplace. Some of the employers agreed to ensure minimum facilities like washing and toilet at workplace.

A total of 9 meetings were held on issues of different project activities with the National Coordinator, coordinators and BILS senior management on Jan 12, Feb 06, Feb 27, March 15, July 10, Aug 02, Aug 27, Sep 19, and Dec 29, 2006.
